Maine would require all public water systems to test for “forever chemicals” under a draft plan of a state government task force.
The Maine PFAS Task Force was still debating the draft report and recommendations when they were made public Nov. 26. Gov. Janet Mills (D) created the task force in March amid concerns about high levels of the chemicals found in milk and traced to the municipal sludge spread on the fields as fertilizer for years. The task force is seeking public comments through Dec. 6.
