A nice, cold bottle of water when you're super thirsty just hits different. I know they say that you should start your day with water over any other beverage, but sometimes you need coffee or tea to really do the trick. Nestle plans to change that, though, and is developing caffeinated water for the new year.
There are a few caffeinated waters already on the market by smaller name brands, but this is the first product of its kind for the Nestle. According to a CNBC report, with the push for getting rid of single-use plastic, Nestle's business has been negatively affected.
This caffeinated water move is also truly in the hopes of benefitting consumers, because—as I'm sure you can agree—we're tired out here! Chief Marketing Officer of Nestle Waters North America Yumi Clevenger-Lee said in an interview with CNBC that caffeinated water is the solution.
"Customers are telling us that they’re kind of in an energy crisis, that they need a boost and are looking for help with hydration but sometimes water doesn’t cut it,” she said: “They need that morning or afternoon burst of energy to keep them going, so this is really based on the idea of gentle caffeine.”
It definitely makes sense, as I'm sure we've all experienced that internal debate of going for that late afternoon coffee because you're tired but dreading the fact that it will keep you up all night thus furthering the cycle of exhaust! I definitely dig the sound of "gentle caffeine" so I'll be trying Nestle's caffeinated water come 2020. Who's with me?!
