Water main break repairs impact traffic in Niagara Falls - WKBW-TV

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Repairs to a water main break in Niagara Falls could impact the Thursday morning commute.

Crews began working on the break at 3 a.m. in the middle of the intersection of Packard Road and Niagara Falls Boulevard. The intersection was covered with water and blocked by traffic barrels.

Drivers on Niagara Falls Boulevard are able to continue through the intersection, as the road is reduced to one lane in both directions. But drivers have to veer off to the right or left instead of going right through the middle.

Drivers on Packard Road are unable to cross Niagara Falls Boulevard due to the work. They'll have to turn onto Niagara Falls Boulevard or Pine Avenue and find an alternative route.

A supervisor on site said that crews will start to drill beneath the road around 7 a.m. If the fix is an easy one, it could be done rather quickly. But if a comprehensive repair is needed, expect crews on scene all day. That means the intersection will not reopen until at least dinner time.

No customers are impacted by the break.
